Off topic but this reminded me of the last Oil Kings game I attended. Their goalie had a three assist night in a 6-1 win. |

Because you're from Terry Bradshaw country, I looked up the Flower and Tomas Vokoun. Fleury doesn't have a point this year, Vokoun picked up an assist last night on Dupuis's empty-netter.
Interestingly, Vokoun has a 10-season assist streak. |

Nice to see Vokoun bouncing back after a horrid three game stretch a few weeks ago.

Actually I am from Beaver county and have lived in the South since leaving the military. I come twice a year and follow Pens religiously. I just can't remember MAF assisting any this year. |

Dallas Stars radio is reporting at least 8 Eastern teams scouts will be at the game in Dallas tonight against the A vs.... do y'all think Pens scouts are there and who would they want? |

finally a centrer for j iggy ( That would be MacKinnon)
- all mighty oil
Sure keep iggy trade other assets, draft MacKinnon. It was brought up on the radio today flames are working on an extension with iggy. Not sure what to think about that
Really? they would be better off getting as many 1st round picks as possible. I can see at least 5 or 6 guys there that should be traded NOW. |

Some super late observations.
Vokoun played really well despite how he looks doing it. First goal wasn't a whiff. Streets shot hit Glass and deflected down into the ice and bad up. Almost impossible to tell where it goes from there. A real knuckle puck.
The 4th line is starting to play better.
I actually thought Despres didn't play that well last night. Over pursued a lot and was scrambling a decent amount. Compared to his normal level he was a bit off.
Martin was a beast last night.
Penalty killing came up big in spots. Much bigger than any percentage at this point.
They didn't play too well last night, but not playing well, at Long Island, in the grind part of a short season, the fact that they are still able to win with a sub par effort is encouraging. |

Iginla trade spec grows by the day. Source says Pit,Bos,Chi,LA on his list with ongoing discussions. CGY will not comment, confirm, or deny.
imagine iggy on chi wonder if hossa will be bought out with all his injuries.. we could go after him in free agency
Rob Rossi@RobRossi_Trib3m
#TribHKY >> at last word, #pens targets were for depth on D and at C, with eye on PK upgrades. Will look top six winger, but not priority
so why center depth? even with malkin injured you have sutter jeffrey adams vitale all able to play center...
wonder if tk will be sent for smith to stay up.. i liked him last night... could be a gritty winger the pens needed without a trade.. |

I'm guessing the need for a center is for faceoffs, especially on the PK. Sutter has been inconsistent in the circle, and you can't keep putting Crosby out there for every big PK draw. He wins a lot, but when he loses, you just wasted 30+ seconds on your best offensive player in his own zone.
Go after Boyd Gordon in Phoenix. UFA this summer, great on draws and has played wing. Good skater, gritty guy who has won a Memorial Cup and Calder Cup.
Good day for the Pens with Montreal & Boston both losing. |

Gordon would be a solid acquisition.
However, I'm coming to the conclusion and did so a week ago. This trade deadline will be a bust. Too many teams are still in playoff contention and won't trade a roster player that serves a purpose - even rentals. Calgary, Colorado and Florida are the lone three I see being sellers. Washington and Tampa who were basically dead in the water a week ago are right back in this thing. The SE division is terrible. Carolina's injury problems and Winnipeg's lack of consistency have given everyone hope.
Tampa resigns Thompson, a third or fourth line guy to an extension. I assume more guys like Thompson will be resigned as well because they serve a solid purpose in a season in which the cap comes down.
